I’m so proud to share that Right Down Euclid won First Place honors at Friday’s All Ohio Excellence in Journalism Awards! Reviewed by a panel of my peers, colleagues and fellow journalists from across the country, they considered Right Down Euclid the best online publication in all of Ohio! The award was announced last Friday at the 45th annual “All Ohio Excellence In Journalism Awards” hosted by the Press Club of Cleveland at the House of Blues.
“I love the laid-back, conversational style of this blog,” said one judge. “It has a down-home sensibility that was a pleasure to read even for those of us who live a few hundred miles away.”
I am so grateful to you, my readers and neighbors, who have supported Right Down Euclid over the past three years. Every little bit of community support goes a long way. As a solo entrepreneur and journalist, I am uplifted by every kind word and you make my reporting possible. I tell everyone I meet I am so incredibly fortunate that I get to do what I do and I love every second of it.
To everyone reading this or any of the work that I have produced and Mr. Banks who made me learn what my worth was professionally from your gross incompetence:
I’m honored and humbled to express my heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support and dedication towards Right Down Euclid.
Winning in the All Ohio Excellence in Journalism Awards is a dream come true for Right Down Euclid, and it couldn’t have happened without your encouragement and constant motivation.
Your trust in our work has driven our success, and we are truly grateful for that.
Your belief in our mission to bring the truth to light and give a voice to independent Cleveland sports coverage has been inspiring.
The recognition that we have received is a testament to your unwavering support of Right Down Euclid‘s hard work and dedication.
Right Down Euclid is committed to bringing you the best in journalism and promises never to compromise our values. Your continued support will only strengthen our resolve to be the best in our field, and we hope to make you proud of us.
Once again, thank you for your support, and we look forward to continuing to serve you with the best in journalism, covering everything about the place we love so much and call home.
This award is a recognition of my work and the amazing community that has supported me along the way. I want to thank everyone who has read, shared, commented, and supported my blog. Your feedback and encouragement have been invaluable.
I am also grateful to the judges who saw something special in my writing and chose to honor me with this award. It is a true honor to be recognized among so many talented journalists and writers.
Finally, I want to dedicate this award to the city of Cleveland, the place that has inspired so much of my writing. Cleveland is a city often overlooked and underestimated but truly a hidden gem. I hope Right Down Euclid has helped showcase this city’s beauty and potential and inspired others to explore and appreciate it.
Congratulations to all the other winners, including my friends and colleagues who also saw their excellent work recognized.

Funnily enough, when I learned I had won, I was in the company of friends while preparing for the Pokémon Regional Championships in Milwaukee (more on that soon!). Of course, my friends were quick to heap praise on me, and at the same time, my phone was blowing up with texts and calls from those not physically with me.
I do not typically accept praise and would rather reflect or dismiss it. I’d rather keep my head down and work as hard as possible on everything I do – Right Down Euclid included. But when I saw I had won, I was truly at a loss for words, and all I could do was cry. There have been so many trials and tribulations over the last several years that I’ve had to navigate to make Right Down Euclid what it is today. It’s been hard. It’s been scary. It’s induced panic attacks and made me second guess my decisions whenever I gave attention to my negative intrusive thoughts.
But, these tears weren’t some melancholic release. Instead, they were tears of joy. It felt incredibly gratifying to be considered the absolute best at what I do for the platform I’ve worked tirelessly to build in the entire state of Ohio. For a brief moment, it felt like everything I had done had been worth it. It’s still hitting me in waves, especially when I write this out.
Thank you again from the bottom of my heart for supporting me and my dream. Again, the recognition and the award to go with it have been sublime, but it will also motivate me to continue to push to make Right Down Euclid the greatest, fully independent source for Cleveland news and sports coverage it can be. None of it happens without your support, so if you can, support Right Down Euclid and everything we’re doing.
