Jarrett Allen’s future with the Cleveland Cavaliers has come into question following the 2023 NBA Playoffs.

While the entire team struggled against the New York Knicks, Allen has received the bulk of the blame for the rebounding disparity – and has ultimately found himself as the potential odd man out of Cleveland’s core four. 

There have always been valid concerns about Allen’s pairing with Evan Mobley. Two non-shooting bigs together in the frontcourt are not the type of combination you typically see in today’s space-and-pace NBA.

However, it’s not apparent that trading Allen is the solution. He is still the defensive anchor that keeps his team steady, and Allen’s efficiency in the paint is a valuable tool. Replacing Allen would not be easy.

So let’s talk about Jarrett Allen’s importance to the Cleveland Cavaliers and why he still belongs in their long-term plans:
